BYU Law Society

The Law Society draws on the philosophy and personal example of the Law Society’s namesake, J. Reuben Clark, Jr., in fulfilling the following mission: “We affirm the strength brought to the law by a lawyer’s personal religious conviction. We strive through public service and professional excellence to promote fairness and virtue founded upon the rule of law.”

We are determined to provide opportunities to associate one with another which will encourage integration of our beliefs with the practice of law. The board has planned (and is in the process of planning) activities that will be worthwhile, and which will soon be posted on this website. We welcome your participation and look forward to associating with you.

Warm regards,

Philip N. Bastian, Chair Marcus Nash, Immediate Past Chair
Robert Condie, Secretary Robert J. Backstein, Young Lawyer Mentoring
Robert E. Critchfield, Membership Jeffrey L. Laurence, Treasurer
G. Perrin Walker, Member at large
