Greater Seattle BYU Alumni Scholarship/Replenishment Grant

Application Deadline: Saturday, March 31, 2012 (firm)

Goal of the BYUWA Scholarship Committee: to award scholarships/grants to worthy Western Washington LDS students to enable them to start or continue their education. To support this effort, money is raised through a sponsored golf tournament, local member donations, a replenishment grant and support from the Seattle BYU Alumni and Management Society.

The following eligibility requirements apply:

  • Be a resident of Western Washington (from Chehalis to Bellingham)
  • Actively involved in the LDS Church
  • Full-time, undergraduate student to any accredited university for the 2012 – 2013 academic year.
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Involvement in Seminary or Institute (if not attending a church school)

Scholarships will be awarded based on qualifications, need, and personal circumstances of the applicant. Considering that we receive many more applications than there are funds, not every candidate will receive an award.

Remember:

  • All applicants will be notified by June 15, 2012 via e-mail as to whether or not they have been awarded a scholarship
  • Scholarship money may only be applied towards tuition.
  • Award recipients commit to “give back” when it is possible for them to do so.

General Scholarship Application Tips:

Below are some tips to help you complete a scholarship application and essays.

  • Pay close attention to scholarship application deadlines as applications submitted past the deadline will not be considered.
  • When writing your essays let your personality shine through. While scholastic achievements are important, in most cases, they are not the only items considered.
  • Proofread your essays. Spelling errors or poor writing skills will have a negative effect on your chances of receiving the scholarship.
